US military intelligence analysts claim that climate change will present significant strategic issues around the world. The increased occurrences and severity of storms, droughts, resource shortages, and the spread of disease are all linked to climate change.
Analysts concluded that massive migrations, refugee crises, and social upheaval could bring down national governments, increase support for non-state groups, and destabilize large regions.
Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia were among some of the most vulnerable areas, due to current social conditions and the increased threat of food and water shortages, flooding, and refugee situations.
Additionally, climate change poses direct threats to the hundreds of US military bases around the world.
