Best Buy to sell electric bicycles

July 06, 2009
Best Buy will soon start selling "green" vehicles, reporting the Wall Street Journal.
The electronics retailer has begun offering electric-powered scooters, bicycles and Segway transporters at 19 stores in California, Oregon and Washington. The Brammo Enertia, an electric motorcycle that can travel 45 miles at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour on a charge from a standard wall outlet, will soon be among the "green" vehicles sold in stores.
The move is said to be driven by excess space in stores.
"With flat-panel televisions replacing bulkier models, and music and movie sales declining, Best Buy needs to do something with the empty spaces in its cavernous stores," write MIGUEL BUSTILLO and NICK WINGFIELD of the Wall Street Journal.
