Rafael Martins was born in Bahia (bay), near the sea, but he really enjoys sailing to other distant bays. He got in touch with photography at home. By breathing film development lab atmosphere, he fell in love with photo alchemy. Always curious about all the equipment surrounding him, he invented his own look to photography. His authorial work investigates time sedimentation in image. through studying light long time exposition and artisanal addition of light, he notices the no permanency and reality migration. Memory, affect, residue, roots and permanency are present in his essays. Caixa Preta was his first individual exhibition, in 2011, followed by Vagalumes in 2013 and 2014. Rafael won the contest sponsored by UN about climate changes in Latin America.
