Juan Carlos Jintiach is an Indigenous Shuar leader shortlisted for the Nobel Peace Prize and executive director of the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC). He is also the coordinator of international economic cooperation and autonomous Indigenous development for COICA (Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin) and an elected official who represented the Indigenous peoples of Latin America in the Convention on Biological Diversity.  He is a focal point in the Indigenous People’s Caucus within the UNFCCC.
