Stephen Leahy
Based in Canada, Stephen has been reporting on the Earth’s biosphere — our
planet’s thin layer of life — for over 20 years. His work appears in National Geographic News, Vice Motherboard, The Guardian, Ensia, Mongabay and the Inter Press News Service. In 2018 he received the SEAL Environmental
Journalism Award for his reporting at National Geographic and VICE. He
previously received the United Nations Global Prize for Climate Change and
Environment Reporting.
Stephen is also author of award-winning book: Your Water Footprint: The
Shocking Facts About How Much Water We Use To Make Everyday Products,
judged the best Canadian science book of 2014.
