Patricia Sia Ngevao

Patricia Sia Ngevao is a Sierra Leonean journalist based in Freetown. She is a reporter for Awoko Newspaper covering environmental issues and climate change with a focus on vulnerable communities including women and children. She has produced in-depth reporting on environmental issues and climate adaptation, including a story on Aberdeen Creek that examined the impact of human activity on marine ecosystems and local livelihoods. She has also reported on how cross-border movement between Sierra Leone and Liberia is shaping women-led farming innovations in response to climate pressures. She has published articles in platforms including African Women in the Media (AWiM), El País, Thomson Reuters and Dubawa. Her work explores the broader effects of environmental change on food security, fisheries and rural economies, often combining field reporting with policy and data analysis. In 2023, she won the Inaugural National Inclusive and Anti-Conflict Award, was again recognized in 2024, and in 2025, she was selected as a finalist in the environmental reporting category at the West Africa Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA) for her contributions to environmental journalism.
