Lynet Otieno

Lynet Otieno is an editor of Mongabay Africa's reporting in Swahili. Lynet is an experienced corporate communicator and seasoned multimedia journalist with over 17 years of experience, as well as a knack for digital campaigns. Despite being a long-serving editor in one of the oldest newsrooms in Kenya, Lynet has devoted time to telling and helping produce impactful stories on climate justice and conservation, including by building the capacity of journalists on the same. Lynet has contributed to the push to increase coverage of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity stories in the newsroom, including by participating in the creation of a climate reporting manual for Kenyan journalists in 2024. Whether working in or outside the newsroom, her work has revolved around content management, hence always working with journalists from across Africa. She loves nature.
