Gloria Pallares

Freelance environmental, science and global development journalist with a background in Conservation of Biodiversity. Her work draws on more than a decade of experience with international organizations and media outlets, and extensive field work in tropical forest countries. Her investigative work with Mongabay has brought to light a sketchy financial scheme covering 9.5 million hectares of forest in Indigenous lands across Peru, Bolivia and Panama; in the Congo Basin, she exposed illegal logging and mining and poor carbon governance covering 5 million hectares, an area twice the size of Rwanda, in the Congo Basin. She works in five languages.
