Deepak Adhikari

Deepak Adhikari is a freelance journalist, researcher and editor based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He currently leads Nepal Check, a fact-checking platform dedicated to exposing misinformation and ensuring the integrity of public discourse in Nepal. Prior to this role, from March 2020 to July 2022, he served as the editor of South Asia Check, Nepal's pioneering fact-checking outlet, where he honed his expertise in debunking mis-and disinformation and false narratives. Adhikari's reporting has covered some of the major issues facing Nepal including political transition, human rights abuses, and human trafficking, often bringing to light the stories of ordinary Nepalis. His work has been featured in prestigious international outlets such as Al Jazeera English, TIME magazine, The Caravan magazine, Nikkei Asia, and Himal Southasian.
