Samuel Ogunsona
Samuel Ogunsona is a rising star in the journalism world, working as a journalist with Irohinodua the first Indigenous news media in Nigeria representing the voices of Indigenous communities across Nigeria, promoting their aspirations and relaying their fears.
Currently, his professional journalism work has centered around Indigenous and people's rights, animal rights, climate change and other pressing environmental issues.
Samuel's educational background in zoology and environmental biology from Lagos State University has provided him with a deep understanding of animals and environmental issues. Throughout his career, he has worked with several reputable media outlets in Nigeria, including Journalists for Democratic Rights (JODER), the International Press Center (IPC), where he served as a media monitor and fact-checker and Crest NG. His experience has equipped him with a broad range of skills, allowing him to cover various fields, including sports, politics and business news.
Samuel's dedication to environmental journalism has earned him several notable opportunities. He was selected as a fellow for the Young Media for Climate Justice program by the International Climate Change Development Initiative in 2024. Samuel was one of the few Nigerian journalists accredited to cover the Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in Montreal, Canada, in 2022, and the United Nations Conference of the Parties live negotiation of COP28 in Dubai, 2023.
In his free time, Samuel enjoys reading, traveling to explore new places and taking photographs of nature and the natural environment. His passion for storytelling and commitment to environmental journalism make him a valuable asset to the media industry.
