Leading captive breeding efforts is the Wildlife Conservation Society. 80 offspring have been born at its Bronx Zoo headquarters -- more cubs than any other zoo in the world.
In today's "Photo in the News", Snow leopard mom, Mei Mei, and one of her twin daughters Misty take a special moment to snuggle and groom at the Bronx Zoo's Himalayan Highlands Habitat.
"This is definitely their favorite season," said the Wildlife Conservation Society in a statement. "The snow leopard's thick fur and tail protect them from the elements."
The Snow Leopard's coat changes from whitish-tan to white during the winter.
Visitors to the Bronx Zoo can now come early and stay late to experience the Zoo's Holiday Lights extravaganza.
