Across Southeast Asia, the trafficking of gibbons is on the rise, as demand for them as pets on the black market has soared. On the frontline of this rising issue is the Sumatran Rescue Alliance which forms part of Orangutan Information Centre. But rehabilitating and releasing gibbons back to the wild can be a long and difficult process.
