The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo in New York City has recently seen the arrival of three baby North American river otters (Lontra canadensis), the first born in the city at a zoo or aquarium in over 50 years.

North American river otters are listed as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List, but are still recovering from a long decline propelled by fur trapping, water pollution, and habitat degradation.
