Gore launches 24-hr push to ‘confront the reality’ of climate change

Primary rainforests are top conservation priority

For the next 24 hours the Climate Reality Project — an initiative founded and chaired by former Vice President Al Gore — is hosting an event to mobilize action on climate change. The entire event will be broadcast live and presented in 13 languages.

“Today, climate change is no longer a prediction: It’s a reality,” Gore said in a statement. “Yet around the world, we are still subjected to polluter-financed misinformation and propaganda designed to mislead people about the dangers we face from the unfolding climate crisis.”

“The time to face reality is now. 24 Hours of Reality will bridge oceans and cultures — in every time zone — to bring the world together to emphasize the truth about the climate crisis and how we can solve it.”

The event will feature a presentation at 7 p.m. local time in every time zone around the world until it concludes with a talk by Gore at 7 p.m. Eastern time on September 15.

The event is broadcast live below.
