The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo today debuts triplet lion cubs.

The cubs, born January 27, 2010, can be spotted with their mother, Sukari, and father, M’wasi, at the zoo’s African Plains habitat, from 10am to 1pm daily.

The cubs were born at about five pounds each. They now weigh in at about 25 pounds and have yet to be named.

The triplet African lions are the second litter born at WCS’s Bronx Zoo in a year.

African lion populations have suffered a sharp decline due to habitat loss and poaching, with numbers falling from more than 100,000 around 1900 to roughly 29,000 in 2006.
