This moth species from Panama has not yet been identified by mongabay.com. Moths makes up the bulk of the insect-family Lepidoptera, which also includes butterflies. In all there are over 170,000 species described in this family with likely thousands still hidden.
Moths differ from butterflies by having fluffy or feathery antenna, while butterflies have slim antenna that end in a club. Some moths have similar antenna to butterflies, only lacking a distinct club. Generally, nighttime is for moths, and daytime for butterflies, though there are exceptions.
