Madagascar Conservation & Development journal launches

Madagascar Wildlife Conservation, a Madagascar-based nonprofit, and the Jane Goodall Institute Switzerland have launched a new journal focused on conservation and development issues in Madagascar.

The inaugural issue of Madagascar Conservation & Development is freely available online at www.mwc-info.net/en/services/journal.htm and includes peer-reviewed articles written in French and English.

Famous for its lemurs, Madagascar is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth. The island's high number of endemic species have made it a top global conservation priority.

Madagascar Wildlife Conservation aims to preserve biodiversity in key areas by promoting a long-term conservation process that integrates development, environmental education and research. The organization pursues four general objectives: community empowerment, creating alternative revenue sources, environmental education, and research.

The Jane Goodall Institute seeks to increase primate habitat conservation; increase awareness of, support for and training in issues related to our relationship with each other, the environment and other animals; expand non-invasive research programs on chimpanzees and other primates; and promote activities that ensure the well-being of chimpanzees, other primates and animal welfare in general.
